Your background matters.
Your culture, identity, family, beliefs, values, and lived experiences all influence how you see yourself, how you relate to others, and how you move through the world. Therapy should make room for all of that.
At Riverside Counseling, I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I take the time to understand you—including the experiences that have shaped you and the systems, relationships, and communities you come from.
That means we can talk openly about:
- Culture, race, ethnicity, and identity
- Family and community expectations
- Gender, spirituality, and personal values
- Belonging, discrimination, and experiences of being misunderstood
- Generational patterns and experiences that have shaped you
- The ways your background influences your relationships, emotions, and choices
I won't assume I know your experience. I'll ask, listen, and stay curious.
You don't have to minimize your identity, explain away your experiences, or fit yourself into someone else's idea of what healing should look like.
Therapy at Riverside is about understanding the whole person, not just the symptoms.
If you want a therapist who will respect where you come from while also challenging you to look honestly at where you want to go, let's talk.
Like a River, Healing Moves Forward.
